We had an awesome experience with Anchor! They came this week to remove an old heater from our downstairs and did the job--including taking the heater away--in less than an hour. Very friendly, communicative and prompt.

And, after removing the heater there was a little opening in the wall and they promised to come back with a cap for it...and they have already followed up with us to schedule a time to do so (without prompting). We were very happy with our experience and are now considering furnace installation with Anchor too. Highly recommended!

As per John C. Their bid was competitive dollar wise but surpassed others in its completeness and attention to codes, permits, testing and rebates.

Everyone I have worked with at Anchor Heating & Cooling has been top notch! They have provided prompt service and have consistently managed to solve my heating problems as quickly as possible. Their rates are reasonable, they have never tried to up-sell me by recommending unnecessary repairs, and they have looked for ways to minimize our costs. More importantly, they are friendly and provide amazing service. It took me a while to find my a repair team I can trust, but now I won't let anyone else near my heating equipment!

I had purchased a new home and upon trying to turn on my heater for the first time, I got nothing - no air flow at all (hot or cold) despite the thermostat being fully functional. After calling around to multiple places in Oakland and the East Bay, I found out that nobody wanted to work on my townhome's style of heater due to it being wedged in the ceiling on the 3rd floor. Likely it was due to the inability to easily access, make repairs, or in a worst case scenario...it would be impossible to replace without ripping down the entire ceiling.

After 4 rejections by other HVAC repair companies, I was finally on the phone with Anchor. Michelle and I decided that it would be best for me to send some pictures of the unit for her manager to review before committing to sending someone out. They were able to identify my type of heater, and was able to send someone out immediately the following day (due to a cancellation). This was great timing as January was the middle of heater repair season and most other places had anywhere between a few days to longer than a week out in their availability.

Bob arrived early (he even called to see if I would be home ahead of the arrival window as he was already free) and went about his diagnostics from the thermostat and eventually up to the heater in the ceiling. Within 10 minutes he found a bad/dead starter cap, and retrieved the part from his truck. Installed, and my heat was restored. Bob even went out of the way to climb the ladder to check the roof unit's pressure, before coming back inside to help me reinstall the ceiling panels and give me some general tips.

Great company with an extremely friendly and capable team. Highly recommend these guys for their professionalism and ability to get things done quickly.

I am a contractor in the Sacramento area. We did an install in Oakland Hills and needed to perform a service call for the customer. Our bay area service technician moved to a different opportunity.

We called Anchor and asked if they could assist us. They did an amazing job with our customer and were very reasonable in their pricing.

As an HVAC contractor myself, I highly recommend Anchor to anybody!

    Thank you team Anchor!

I recommend this company to my real estate clients and friends and they installed a furnace in my own home. They're pleasant and reliable and recommend you spend money only on what makes sense. They'll try to keep older systems going if that's the best option.Good HVAC companies get busy in the winter so it's a good idea to schedule services before it gets cold!

Good, honest work. They have done numerous jobs for me. They want to do it right and charge reasonably. I appreciate their integrity and skill. Highly recommended.

Bob arrive at the scheduled time, diagnosed the fried capacitor in my heater quickly, and repaired in a minimum amount of time. Really appreciate the professionalism and competence of both the office and repair person.

Just had Anchor Heating put in a heating system, we only had a wall heater previously. I highly recommend Anchor Heating. The price was very reasonable. Josh was great to work with in designing the system. Joel of AH installed the system. His work was excellent. He thoroughly explained the process and the system to us and his work was very neat and clean. The system works great and is very efficient and very well insulated. AH was recommended to me and I now can recommend them to you with the utmost confidence.
An addition to my earlier review - the company that assesses leakage came out (this is required for the city permit) and after performing the test said he has never had such a low number, i.e. most efficient ducts he has ever tested. I'm very happy!!!

The team at Anchor did an excellent job. Talk about nice people. Wow. Besides the warm fuzzy, they properly diagnosed the problem, scheduled a follow up visit to handle the issue, showing up on the early side of their call window and took the time to explain the process in a professional and courteous manner. Nice experience.

Josh and his team are great for commercial as well as residential projects. Through my business's remodeling process, we dealt with electrical, plumbing, framing, and HVAC. Anchor was by far the most knowledgeable and professional of all the folks we worked with. I have worked with them twice now and been pleased both times. Also, as a woman business owner, I appreciate being treated with respect and not "talked down to"... as has occurred in other instances with contractors. 5 stars!

I had my furnace installed in 2002 by Ceridono. I remember being very impressed with Eric Miller at the time because he made sure I got the best furnace for my type of house and made sure the installation was of the best quality. I hadn't had my furnace serviced in awhile, so when I found out that Ceridono was out of business, I search for Eric Miller and was happy to find out that he'd started his own company with co-owner Josh called Anchor Heating & Cooling. I called them right away and someone came out the very same day and spent a good amount of time getting my furnace back in good working order. Everyone I dealt with at Anchor was friendly and helpful and I am so glad to have found my go-to heating and cooling company!

Josh was on time, friendly, and honest. He will tell you like it is and not try to up sell you on more. Just the kind of service I like. He knows his stuff too. I highly recommend these guys for any of your heating and cooling needs.

Anchor was extremely responsive, diagnosed our Carrier furnace problem, acquired the part and fixed it the same day (almost). When there was a problem with the fix, they came back the very next day and resolved the issue. Charges were very reasonable. We are happy.

We found Anchor on Yelp and included them in our list of 3 bidders to install central air conditioning in our Berkeley home. Josh inspected the site, listened carefully to our requirements, and made technical recommendations that we hadn't thought of, including a novel way to add a duct to a refinished attic space by routing through some unused closet space. His bid was the lowest of the three and included options for replacing our 18-year-old furnace (nearing end of life) that the others hadn't mentioned. The final price, which included adding the new duct and the new furnace, was still below the high bid for AC alone. The installation was done by a hard-working, polite and talented crew. Joel was exceptional in his workmanship involving carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing. Eric stayed into the start of his Labor Day weekend to finish up so that we would have AC during a heat spell. The competition we interviewed were excellent highly-rated well-known companies. I hope that this review helps Anchor to become better known for its value, precision in technical scoping, customer service and results.

Great experience from quote request to project completion. Josh and his team were incredibly easy to work with, friendly, on time, and efficient. They really seemed to care about my project, despite it being small. I had a mini-split installed in my studio and they went out of their way to figure out a solution to my desire to not have external piping on the side of the studio. Additionally, out of four quotes I got for the project, Anchor's was the most reasonable. I'm super happy with their work!

Fantastic experience. We had a complete Heating and Air Conditioning Replacement. I got three competitive bids and all three companies priced the job similarly. However, Anchor was the only one that explained the State Energy Rebate program and walked me through the process so I ended up going with them. I'm glad I did, their team was unbelievable. They showed up on time, put protective covering over the carpets and furniture since the install was inside the house. The job took several days and they even vacuumed each evening. (my wife was happy) Their attention to detail on the job was the same way. I cannot say enough good things about Josh and Eric's company, and absolutely would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Josh and the entire Anchor team are terrific. We have used him with five different clients and his work continues to impress. He has a terrific bedside manner, and the quality of the work is the best in the industry.

Josh Madeiros made the process simple and painless. He looked at the ancient heating system in place, provided two options for replacement systems, answered all my queue actions about the differences between the options, pulled a permit, did the job beautifully (came on time, was clean and tidy, everything works) , and came back for the inspection. He new system has been working just right for a year now!

I am an Associate Broker with East Bay Modern Real Estate. I represent the buyer in a complicated probate transaction. The seller had several repairs to complete which were loan conditions, one of which was a new heater. My client had obtained a bid from another company. I sent that bid to Anchor because the first company neglected to return several phone calls. Plus they have been wonderful to my clients in the past. Josh at Anchor heating beat that bid by almost $400. We had to get this job done by early afternoon yesterday and they accommadated us in their schedule. They showed up early and got the job done minutes before the appraiser arrived to check off the items. Cliffhanger here....the hot water wasn't on. Eric and his guy got on a dirty disgusting floor and spent 15 to 20 minutes helping to get the hot water heater pilot lit. Again, not in their job description. They managed to get it lit in the nic of time for the appraiser to check it(he had gone to fill his tank and come back)! Above and beyond???? YES!!!!!!! Without them this would not be closing as timely as it is. Why was I there, you might ask, instead of the listing agent who shoud be handling seller repairs? Because I wanted to make sure everything went smoothly and my buyer closed on time! I can't thank Eric, Josh and Mike enough. You guys are my heros. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Not only are they efficient, they are really good humans!!!!!!!!! I love you Anchor Heating and Air!

I really like working with Anchor Heating. They were responsive with quotes and follow through. Best of all they followed up when I had issues and were quick to come by and see what was happening with my new system (turns out we had a faulty electronics board which they were able to replace promptly)

My only issue with the entire experience is that they spec'd me a furnace that is very loud. It's not entirely their fault but I also feel like given the physical location of the furnace in my house it should have been pretty obvious that a very quiet furnace is what I needed. If I had known I would have paid more for that type of furnace.

We live in an older two story home and recently decided to install a zone system in efforts to save money each month. We found these contractors to be skilled in their trade and worked efficiently and cleanly
My husband and I are thrilled with the service this company provides and will use them in the future for all our HVAC needs.

Josh and his team were great. They came out before we bought our house (built in 1926) and gave us excellent advice in that context (the HVAC needed a lot of work, and we could either go cheap and patch it up or rip out the whole thing and start over) and wasn't pushy and was very helpful.

We then decided to rip it out and start over, before we moved in, and they did an excellent job. So good in fact that the basement's now my favorite room - they moved the furnace to a more logical place, moved the ducting out of the way so that it actually made the basement usable. Might have added $50,000 to the value of the house not even counting the energy savings or tax credit.

They did a great job with my challenging house.  Had to re-do the venting under the house that was totally messed up by a previous owner.  They did a great job and got my a/c going again in the middle of a heat wave.  I'm scheduling a time for Josh and crew to come back and replace my heater and A/C units to energy efficient models asap.  Very honest and trustworthy.  Nice guy, too.

Josh and team installed a two zone Carrier heating system in my house, replacing all our ductwork in the process.  This is the sort of project that can have a lot of headaches, but Josh was great throughout.  He clearly laid out my options, provided a couple of references, quietly and efficiently performed the installation (we barely knew they were there), tested and tuned the system, and answered all our questions.  I believe the price was extremely fair as well, based on discussions with some contractors about our options.

Most importantly, the end result is great - our house is warm, the furnace runs quietly, and with the programmable thermostat, we never have to fuss with any settings - we programmed it once and are done.

We called Josh to give us an estimate to replace the entire heating system of our fixer upper. His estimate was reasonable, he did the entire job in two days, his crew was very professional the entire time. When my wife got home and realized that I had told them the wrong place for the thermostat, no problem! They took it out, went back into the craw space,  moved the wires, installed it on correct place, fixed the hole on the wall where it was before. No additional charge.

I wish our other projects had gone this smoothly...

Being a Landlord isn't all rent checks and having a good Tenant. Things wear out and break occasionally, and sometimes costly repairs are required. 2011 has been a banner year that way for both my Albany House and the Studio Rental.

The latest piece of "good news" was the separate Studio wall furnace that finally wore out (just before Winter) after 15+ years of use. I first brought in Ceridono to take a look as part of a check up of the house furnace (which they installed). The Technician seemed to be scared of the thing and quoted a outrageously high replacement estimate. That also told me that this was either an "upcharge" or that Ceridono just didn't want to do the work. So I called Jamie Carlen (who originally built the Studio) and asked him for advice and a recommendation. He referred me to Josh at Anchor Heating and Cooling.

Josh first stopped by and tried a repair that didn't hold. He then had his business partner come take a look, and at that point I reluctantly became convinced that replacing the wall furnace was a more "economical" choice. The good news was that Anchor's price was significantly less than the Ceridono estimate. The even better news is that the new unit works well, looks nice in the room, was installed well and on schedule, and my Tenant again has a reliable and economical source of room heat.

Ed is an awesome person! He answered the phone on Sunday & talked me through a crawl space furnace problem that I was able to fix myself! This is old-time, family-values service. I would call these guys in a heartbeat!!
